GCOS is a system which is in principle migrated to x86 platforms running an emulator, because Bull will no doubt no longer provide long-term maintenance. For example, CAF has migrated its Bull and IBM Mainframe to a common target under Unix. On the other hand, the financial industry keeps the IBM mainframe.

Goal

Each participant must be able, at the end of the session and independently,

- edit and modify a source code

- compile and link a source code in order to create an executable module

- run a batch

- to use the TP (real time monitor)

- create a file, modify it, delete it, find it in the system

- compare two files

- search the entire organization of files from a node for all files

containing a specified term (scan on the tree structure)

- to know the specific principles of GCOS architectures (by ring)

- to know the current tools that work on GCOS

- get an idea of the GCOS-8 park and current migration projects
